7at7.digital as a communication platform and a hybrid infrastructure

ISOC Switzerland Chapter - Saturday, July 3, 2021

Since April 2020, ISOC-CH is part of a coalition of organizations in Switzerland and beyond that are slowing developing the 7at7.digital concept, which has recently upgraded its visual identity and framing.

Every 7th of the month at 7pm, there is a short news programme (“alternative news from the digital world”) and a special topic on digital empowerment. The event takes place at the collective space L200, at the center of Zurich, but it is accessible online through the BBB platform.

The success of the series helps to co-create a communication platform which can be used by ISOC-CH members to promote their initiatives, organizations, project.

The “Beyond the Net” grant partially supports the series, including a mobile TV studio infrastructure, which can be used by ISOC-CH members.

More specifically, here is a list of equipment made available at L200:

  • 2 LED studio lights (Godox) + stands (Manfrotto)
  • Video Camera Panasonic GH5
  • HDMI capture device ATEM BlackMagicDesign (four HDMI inputs + two 3.5mm jack inputs) +
  • HDMI capture device J5 Create (1 HDMI input but no electricity needed, suitable for outdoor settings)
  • Microphones: RODE Wireless Go II + RODE lav lavalier microphone + microphone holder
  • Feelworld MA7 monitor (7″, Full HD)
  • HDMI recorder (Auvisio) & splitter (Delock)
  • Professional tripod (Sirui SH-25)
  • HDMI cables and other accessories
  • Caselogic backpack fitting all equipment except lights

With this ISOC-CH equipment and your laptop you can organize small panels or interviews through bigbluebutton or mainstream alternatives like zoom, teams, etc. The possibilities for hybrid events of larger scale can increase significantly if you have two additional video cameras with “clean” HDMI output and additional microphones.

Contact us at 7@7at7.ch if you are interested in any of the possibilities offered by the 7at7.digital series.
